Methylene Chloride is a useful solvent for many chemical processes. It is widely used as a paint stripper and a degreaser. It is used in the food industry to decaffeinate coffee and tea as well as to prepare extracts of hops and other flavorings. It is used as an aerosol spray propellant and as a blowing agent for polyurethane foams. Methylene Chloride is also used to chemically weld certain plastics, and is used in the garment printing industry for the removal of heat-sealed garment transfers.
